Blue Mountains

After following the tourist trail in Sydney we headed west into the Blue Mountains for some clean air and cooler climate (a LOT cooler). After getting the awning / tent we realised that there was no where to store it during the day and on those quick 1 night camps. So as we headed out of Sydney for the mountains we stopped off at JK Kampers for a roof rack.

120 km and one night in Katoomba saw us heading to 'Scenic World' to see the 'fall' and the 3 sisters. Scenic World has 3 equally terrifying methods of seeing the famous sites, The Cableway, SkyWay and Railway.

Cableway

545 metre journey descent and return  into the Jamison Valley.

Skyway

Suspended 270 metres above the ravines in a glass bottomed cable car.

Railway

52 degree incline riding the steepest passenger railway in the world,  You can adjust the seat to a 64 degree incline for a extra thrill.

Yes it is that steep!

Karen doing well to hide the terror.

Jack's OK though.

Worth the view? 1st pic the 3 sisters. There was 7 originally but one met a rock lobster and took off, another got married last we heard it was on the rocks. 3rd became a rock star and the 4th moved to Rockhampton.

The Skyfall................whoops Skyway.

Plan of attack for the Railway.

For an extra thrill we decided to free camp in the woods for the night.

Olive from the camp fire.

Jack helping to start the fire.

The perfect setting.........home made burgers, cask (goon sack) of red wine, anti mosquito candle and the Bear Gryll's Gerber knife!! ....well you never know.

One of the advantages of free camping is that there is no one about literally. We cranked up the BOSE and had a disco before dinner.

Nothing beats a real fire

Gerber knife at the ready just in case............

A couple of days in the Blue Mountains and now off to Parkes (famous for which film?) via Australia's premier race circuit at Bathurst.............See You There.
